I prepared dal khichdi in restaurant style generally everyone use moong dal for kichidi but here iam using toor dal instead of moong dal. It is very easy to prepare and takes very less time to cook also. It is the right choice for lunch box recipe kids also like this recipe a lot.
It is very nutritious for everyone mainly for children because we are using toordal along with rice are main ingredients, as we all of us know how lentils are nutritious to our health. Lentils are mainly help to kids for their growth and we all know rice is rich in carbohydrates. Here iam using onions, tomatoes and some spice powders for getting taste.
When i tried this recipe by using moong dal and lot of veggies but it didn’t gey good taste i felt some normal regular flavour so later i search a lot of things about this recipe now i try this khichdi in my house. After having this recipe everyone praises me a lot and feel so yummy ….little bit spicy….. so all of you try this recipe and tell me your opinion as a comment…
Basmati Rice-1/2 cup
Red toor dal-1/2 cup
Water-2 1/2 cups
Fried onions-2 tbsp
Kasuri methi-1/2 tsp
Green chillies-1 tsp
Crushed Garlic-2 tbsp
Cumin seeds-2 tbsp
Asafoetida or Hing-1/2 tsp
Ghee-4 to 5 tbsp
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Salt to taste
1.Take a bowl add rice, dal wash and rinse twice or thrice with water drain it now add 2 1/2 cups water soak it for sometime.
2.Transfer soaked rice and dal along with water into a pressure cooker add some salt and turmeric powder into it close the lid.Cook it until 2 to 3 whistles. Later keep it aside.
3.Heat ghee in a wide bottomed pan add cumin seeds, asafoetida mix it.
4.Add onions cook it until it becomes transparent now add crushed garlic, ginger, green chilies cook it well later add tomatoes mix it until tomatoes will cook.
5.Later add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder stir for sometime.
6.Now add cooked rice and dal into the pan mix it well later add some salt, kasuri methi, coriander leaves stir it again and then switch off the flame.
7.For second tempering heat ghee in another pan add cumin seeds, red chilli, kasuri methi, 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder, fried onions and switch off the flame.
8.Add this tempering into the kichidi what we prepare before and then it is ready to serve.
