Karam chutney or Side dish in dosa is famous in South India. In telugu it is called as Dosa Karam or karam chutney and it is most popular in Andra pradesh state mainly in nellore district . While preparing dosa if we apply this karam on the top of dosa it tastes soo yummy and spicy also. Family members and even kids also like this type of recipe because they are getting bored by eating regular chutney. It is quite different from regular chutney and also it is not too much spicy because we are using coconut here that’s why children’s also may have it along with dosa .
Karam chutney takes very less time to prepare and requires very less ingredients also. It contains more fiber content because we are using coconut due to this it lower the cholesterol level in our body also and it is very nutritious food also while having this recipe along with breakfast. - 1 cup Coconut
- 1 Onion
- 4 or more tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1 or 2 tbsp Lemon
- Required Salt
Preparation Steps of Erra Karam Recipe
Take coconut and wash it with water and make into fine pieces, keep aside. Now peel off the onion, wash with water cleanly and chop onion into pieces. Cut lemon, squeeze and extract juice from it, keep them aside.
Now take coconut pieces, red chilli powder, salt, lemon juice into a blender, grind it well now add onion pieces again grind it and be careful don’t mash onions too much .If you need add little bit water.
Take it out in a cup and garnish with onion pieces. Serve this spicy…spicy…Erra Karam chutney along with dosa and it is also good along with idli or chapathi.
